Positive Mindset

Many of us immediately think of physical healthy within our body when focused on fitness, but many people do not realize that mental health is a part of being fit as well. One key to increased mental health is establishing an solidifying a positive mindset, which essentially means maintaining a positive perspective. First, one must have a positive perception, which was developed (or underdeveloped) during our formative years of life. Positivity, often referred to as a “positive mindset” or “positive thinking”, is the practice of focusing on the positive aspects of a situation, rather than dwelling on the negative. From a psychological standpoint, positivity has been found to have several benefits and can greatly impact overall well-being. Here are the top 5 contributors to fulfilling and flourishing in a powerful positive life.

  1. Faith/Spiritual health: Positivity can have a significant impact on faith and a spiritual relationship with GOD. A positive and intimate relationship with GOD fosters healthier, more compassionate, and supportive interactions with others. By focusing on the positivity of God through His word and prayer, we can then adapt His positive outlooks of individuals and situations to our own, it becomes easier to build and maintain strong, meaningful connections.
  2. Emotional Well-being: Maintaining a positive mindset can lead to improved emotional well-being. By focusing on positive thoughts, individuals can experience increased happiness, contentment, and overall satisfaction with life.
  3. Physical Health: Positivity has been linked to improved physical health outcomes. Research suggests that a positive mindset can boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and even enhance cardiovascular health. A positive mindset may also contribute to healthier behaviors, such as engaging in regular exercise and maintaining a balanced diet.
  4. Gratitude: Gratefulness is the best resilience and mental strength: A positive mindset can increase gratitude and gratefulness which leads to resilience and mental strength in the face of adversity. Positivity allows individuals to reframe challenges and setbacks, viewing them as opportunities for growth and learning. Knowing that things not only happen to us but for us. Sometimes its not about seeing the glass half empty or full is about being thankful for the glass.
  5. Self-love: (Self-care, Self-esteem, and Self-awareness) Positivity is closely related to self-esteem and self-love. When individuals have a positive mindset, they are more likely to believe in their own capabilities and have higher confidence in their abilities to succeed. This increased self-esteem contributes to personal growth, motivation, and the pursuit of goals.

It is important to note that positivity does not mean ignoring or denying “negative” outcomes, feelings or experiences we do not enjoy. Instead, the power of positivity lies in acknowledging those negative/ unhealthy aspects and actively choosing to focus on the positive in it. Developing a positive mindset can be a gradual process that involves self-reflection, practicing gratefulness, reframing perspective, and cultivating self-awareness.
