Faith Over Fear

As the Halloween season approaches, it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of costumes, candy, and haunted houses. However, this season also often highlights our fascination with fear and the unknown. While the thrill of a good scare can appear fun, it is essential to remember the POWER of FAITH in overcoming fear not only during Halloween but in every aspect of our lives.
In life, we all carry wounds—emotional, psychological, or spiritual—that sometimes lead us to make decisions based on fear. We may keep chasing temporary highs to avoid the pain these wounds bring, but eventually, we must confront them. Just as a wound, if left untreated, can lead to a dangerous infection, unresolved fear can fester within us, hindering our growth and well-being.
The question then becomes, how do we build the faith to move beyond these triggers and face life with courage and resilience? We can find valuable guidance in one of the most esteemed sacred texts—the Holy Bible. Here are NINE assertions that have unquestionably BIRTHED A GREATER FAITH to conquer fears that have attempted to invade my life:
1. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us that God is always with us, offering strength and support in
times of fear. Instead of succumbing to fear, we can lean on our faith in God’s presence
and protection.
2. 2 Timothy 1:7 assures us that the Spirit of God grants us power, love, and self-discipline.
With this divine strength, we can overcome our timidness and face our fears head-on.
3. Psalm 27:1 proclaims that the Lord is our light and salvation, dispelling all fear. We can
find solace in God’s unwavering presence, knowing that we need not fear anything or
anyone.
4. 1 John 4:18 teaches us that perfect love drives out fear. As we grow in our love for God,
ourselves, and others, fear loses its grip on us.
5. Matthew 6:34 encourages us not to worry about tomorrow. By focusing on the present
moment and trusting in God’s plan, we can alleviate our anxieties about an uncertain
future.
6. Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us to be strong and courageous, for the Lord goes with us
and never leaves us. This promise of God’s constant presence can empower us to face fear
head-on.
7. Romans 8:15 assures us that the Spirit we have received does not make us slaves to fear
but rather brings us into God’s family. As children of God, we can approach life with
confidence and trust.

8. John 14:27 offers us peace that surpasses worldly understanding. We can find peace in
God’s promises, allowing our hearts to remain untroubled in the face of fear.
9. Proverbs 3:5-6 advises us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not rely solely on
our understanding. By submitting ourselves to God, we can trust that He will guide our
paths and help us navigate life’s challenges.
