YOGA: The Journey of the self, through the self, to the self.

Being an entertainment publicist for over two decades, working with some of the most recognized artists in the business of television, music, and film has been quite a journey. I have had the privilege of working with incredible talent including Queen Latifah, Boyz II Men, Tupac Shakur, and Jamie Foxx, to name a few. With me always attending the biggest parties, working with so many high profile celebrities, and assisting at all the major award shows, such as the Grammys, AMAs, Billboard, and Golden Globes, people from the outside looking in couldn’t understand why –with so much credibility and what seemed to be a fulfilling life –I was still not satisfied.

After twenty years of a highly successful career, I realized that I had a life that most people only dreamed of, but something was missing.

I soon became an executive at a major record label. I had reached a level in my career that I never imagined, and it was then that I recognized I needed a more significant spiritual path. I started practicing Yoga and meditation on my own, but when I became a true Yogi and meditation practitioner there was an absolute shift, not only in my physical health, but also in my mental and spiritual health as well.

According to the National Institutes of Health, scientific evidence shows that Yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss, and quality sleep, and many Yogis credit their practice for making them nicer, kinder, and more patient. Yoga offers physical and mental health benefits for people of all ages. If you’re battling an illness, recovering from surgery, struggling with depression, or living with a chronic condition, Yoga can become an integral part of your treatment and potentially hasten healing. I personally saw these positive effects in my own life, as I remained consistent. Yoga was not just amazing for the betterment of my body, but it was through the practice of meditating, sitting in silence, and learning to connect with who I really was and who I really wanted to be that allowed me to actively pivot the trajectory of my entire life and career. I began better connecting with my solid celebrity-client relationships and using them for good, pairing the talent with non-profits and helping them create their own charities as well. It was working on projects like Stand Up To Cancer and Revlon Run Walk for Women that I found my true purpose.

If you continue a spiritual journey, putting God first in your life, you will always find your purpose. Yes, I’ve had a career for the books, but when I transitioned to a more purposeful driven life (which, for me, was ignited by Yoga), everything changed, and I’ve never looked back.
