The Secrets to Serenity

As a woman who wears many hats, it can sometimes be hard to find the balance. There are many emotions, and sometimes challenges, that come with juggling motherhood, being a wife, building a business, and simply put –remembering who I am and what I want out of life.

Lighten Up

As Mothers, there are so many expectations we have put on ourselves, and carrying it all can get too heavy at times. Whenever I hit a moment of realizing I am trying to carry too much, I instantly remember that I was never designed to carry loads that were out of my capacity to carry. I come to terms with the fact that I am operating in my own strength and not from the One who created me. I am reminded of the scripture in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all my cares on God. I repeat to myself that His strength is made perfect in my weakness ( 2 Corinthians 12:8-10).

Give It A Rest

In today’s society, everyone wants to know how to “do it all” or “have it all.” However, I believe we all sometimes forget the weight that comes with it. There becomes an importance of pouring into yourself first, taking care of more than just the outside appearance, digging deep internally, and not neglecting what grounds you. I often bring up the idea of self-care and how it isn’t about the massages, pedicures, and buying yourself flowers, but really taking care of the soul (mind, body, and spirit.) I can’t express how big of a role my faith has played in my journey as a mom, wife, and whatever other hat I have or decide to wear that day.

When you are not grounded, it is easier for anxiety, depression, guilt, and the feeling of being overwhelmed to creep in. From one mom to another, I’d love to ask, “what would it look like if you regularly poured into yourself as much as you pour into others?” and “What would it look like if you started your day meeting your needs before everyone else’s?”

Be Seen

How many people do you have around you who will encourage and make it easier for you to pour into YOU? That question is a big one. Community matters! The saying ‘it takes a village’ is quoted often for a reason. Without community, support, and accountability I don’t know where I would be. To be honest, sometimes I need a sister or friend to send me a scripture, reminder, or to simply SEE ME. That is why I am so grateful for the Mom’s Actually platform that we have that creates space for women all over the world to connect, feel seen, encouraged, and empowered to take care of themselves. Be Inspired; pause; take inventory of what you are juggling, and all of the hats that you are wearing. Find out what may be the very thing that you are not meant to carry in this season of your life, rest it on the shoulders of God, and lighten your load.
