True Independence
As we approach the month of July, a time when we celebrate Independence in America, I invite you to reflect on a quality that marks true freedom—kindness. In a world often filled with unkindness, let us resist the urge to fuel negativity and instead embrace the transformative power of compassion.
Throughout my journey as a Master of the Arts of Religion, I have immersed myself in the study of various faiths, gaining a global perspective that has enlightened my understanding. Across these diverse traditions, one message resonates: kindness holds immense significance in our lives. Lao Tzu, a revered figure in Taoism, beautifully stated, “Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
Dearest Fellow Seekers of True Independence
Let us move beyond the superficial notion of “keeping it real” and realize that genuine kindness goes far deeper than surface-level niceties. It is an inherent reflection of our souls. Mark Twain, often attributed to Christianity, aptly described kindness as “a language, which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Furthermore, the timeless words of Mother Teresa echo in our hearts, urging us to be kind and merciful, ensuring that no one leaves our presence without feeling better and happier.
Consider the energy we possess as a precious gift. Let us consciously evaluate how we distribute this energy, ensuring that it aligns with authenticity. Jewel, a voice often associated with spirituality, reminds us that “in the end, only kindness matters.” Therefore, let us embrace true freedom, abundant liberation, and the essence of Independence by cultivating the stamina to embody these meditative and spiritually sustained ideals.
Rather than allowing our energy to fuel lies born out of insecurities, let us channel it towards acts of generosity and refreshment. As recorded in the sacred text known to the world as The Holy Bible, Proverbs 11:25 reveals, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Therefore, considering all that I have presented in this article, the power of kindness is remarkably refreshing, reciprocating back to the person who generates it, and unquestionably embodying true independence!
