The Joy and The Pain of Motherhood

You are a woman. Have kids,” people say. “After all, that’s your job.”

We all love Moms around the world, and. everyone talks about how joyful it is to give birth, but let’s talk about the pain, emotional anguish and stress that comes with motherhood. Questions haunt us even before pregnancy:

Can I even get pregnant? Am I healthy enough? Am I young or old enough? It’s a constant struggle even before we conceive.

Once we get pregnant, research shows that 70 to 94% of women experience morning sickness, fatigue, exhaustion and aches, only to mention some.

Then the belly starts growing. Am I fat? Does my loved one love me the way I look? Self–esteem gets constantly attacked with negative thoughts, worry and physical pain.

We give birth, and some don’t produce enough milk. Am I not good enough? Some of us get postpartum depression. We get used to a little human inside of us.

One day the baby is there–the next day it’s not.

’s hard to make sense of it.

The kid grows up, and one day says, “I don’t care.” or “I hate you.” Now we are battling with ourselves questioning all the decisions we made from day one.

We commit to love no matter what–to give, support, endure and be strong for that person that came out of us.

From the time we are little girls playing with dolls saying, ”I’m the mommy,” we know it’s a big job and we want to do it. It’s in us to desire the challenge and responsibility.

All that pain, stress, anxiety, planning and sacrifice is what makes us mothers, not just giving birth.

Mom, be proud of yourself for saying “YES” to the job and committing to it, because there is no other job like being a mother! #YouArePowerful
