Growing up without a father, I knew I wanted to change that for my own children. I believed that simply being present would be enough, but I soon realized that my unresolved emotional issues and past mistakes were hindrances to my parenting. Through honest conversations with my kids about my struggles with shame, addiction, and defiance, I discovered the power of transparency. By sharing my imperfections and grounding our discussions in faith, I was able to build a stronger bond with my children and equip them with the wisdom to face life’s challenges with the spirit over the flesh. Fatherhood is not just about being there—it’s about being real and guiding our children with honesty, love, and faith.
