In 2019, my life fell apart. I lost everything—my job, my family, my dignity, and my home. I moved to a new city, hoping for a fresh start, but within two years, I hit rock bottom. Depression took hold, and I felt both lost and ashamed. I questioned my worth and my purpose. Yet, in what felt like the darkest chapter of my life, I discovered that losing everything was actually a blessing in disguise.
At first, I resisted the pain, but eventually, I chose to surrender. I began to search for answers, and in that search, I found faith. Books became my lifeline, teaching me to look inward and confront my greatest enemy—my inner me. I realized the battle I was fighting wasn’t external; it was within. My mindset had to change before my circumstances could.
Through prayer, reading, and self-reflection, I rebuilt my foundation on values I had once taken for granted—faith, integrity, and perseverance. I discovered that what I truly valued wasn’t material success, but the relationships I built—especially with my family. That realization lit a fire within me to rebuild—not just my life but myself.
I developed a work ethic grounded in purpose and faith. I learned to love myself, not for what I had or achieved, but for who I was becoming. Depression no longer defined me. Instead, my struggles became stepping stones to growth.
Breaking free from despair required both discipline and faith, but I emerged stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever. I now see those years of loss as the foundation of my greatest victory—a life led by purpose, driven by values, and rooted in faith.
Sometimes, losing everything is the push we need to discover what truly matters and discover who we’re meant to be. As Romans 8:28 reminds us: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
