The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:6), and if you truly train up a child the way he should go, even when he is older, he will not stray from it. (Proverbs. 22:6).
All the sacrifices you have made, the tears you have cried, the hugs you’ve distributed, the kisses you give, the love you have shared, the help you have extended, the advice you gave, the prayers you prayed, the money invested, and the sleep that you lacked throughout the years have all contributed to the men and women we are today…
I am a product of a powerfully praying mom who leaned and depended on God for direction and provisions as she raised me on her own. I have never once had a conversation with my father, let alone learned anything from him. Yet, I strongly feel like I lacked nothing in being raised by my Mother.
I want to thank God for my Mom and thank my Mom for having me.
Mom, the woman that gave me life, the woman that raised me right. I want to start by thanking the Lord for allowing me to be your son. As a kid, I knew I had a good mom, but it wasn’t until I grew up and realized that you’re a one-of-a-kind mother. You have been active and involved in my life every step of the way. Because of you, I had a very happy childhood filled with laughter & joy. There are so many blessings and positive things that stand out from my childhood, but I really want to thank you for the love, peace, and safety I felt in our house. You did an amazing job making sure our house had a great atmosphere. I don’t know how, as a single parent, you didn’t miss a beat. People often ask me if I feel like I missed out by not being raised with my father in the house. I can only answer that question from my frame of reference. My answer is “no”; I truly believe I was showered with the most love and affection. The Lord allowed you to be all the Mom and dad I needed. Mom, you instilled in me that I could do anything through Christ; you gave me a spirit to win and never give up. I am able to walk in any room confident, full of self love and self worth because of the positive reinforcement you gave me. Your positivity went to another level when you accepted Christ.
I didn’t understand it at first, and I even pushed back for many years. But, thanks be to God that you did accept Christ. I can’t imagine how I would have turned out without the guidance you provided because of your love for the Lord. Even when I went astray, I found my way back to God because of you. I have always felt nothing but love and respect from you. You have supported me in everything I have ever set out to do, and you continue to support me. Thank you for not only supporting my dreams and visions, but for supporting my friends and family as well. I really can’t imagine having another Mom. I can honestly say the best parts of who I am are because of the example you set for me. You have constantly lived a Christ-like life, even when it wasn’t easy. The bar you set for me, as a parent, is high. I have to say a mother’s love, specifically your love is mind boggling. When I think back to all the sacrifices I saw you make for me, it makes me wonder how many I didn’t see and will never know you made for me. I want you to know that I have a blessed and wonderful life because of you. I pray that I can affect my kids, and that my ministry can bless others, the way God used you (and continues to use you) to bless me and so many others.
Mom, I appreciate you and the life you live. I pray that the Lord grants me the opportunity to return to you, one hundred fold, all the blessings you have given me. I love, respect, and honor you. Salute to the greatest mom a son could ever wish for.
So moms, when you are second guessing yourself, whether or not what you are doing makes a difference, just know that we see you, you matter, your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and all that you are is all that we need. You are loved, honored, cherished, unmatched, and irreplaceable.
